“What’s in your heart?”
“My family, my friends, especially Carlos. Soccer, my country and my dog.”-Juan, age 7
With no tables or benches around, we set up on the ground at a playground and the children abandon their usual play and gather around curiously. We give them paints, brushes and the heart panel and ask them to paint what’s in their heart. Their dreams, their passion, fear, history, whatever they want to express.
“What’s in your heart?”
“Nature.”-Carmen. age 14
“What’s in your heart?”
“My blood!”-Lucas, age 7
“What’s in your heart?”
“Lot’s of colors and lots of love.”-Randy, age 8
The children survey their work as the paintings dry in the sun.
